"Icengelo" is a Bemba word which means Light. Hence Radio Icengelo is Radio Light.

The aim of Radio Icengelo can be summarized in four words: to Evangelize, Inform, Educate and Entertain.
Radio Icengelo is a community based private radio. It is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Ndola. It was established in 1995 and was commissioned on 11th May 1996.
Radio Icengelo has a Board of Governors consisting of 10 member. The Board meets quarterly. A Management team headed by the Station Manager manages the day to day business of the station. The radio employs both fulltime and part-time employees.
BROADCASTING & AREA OF COVERAGE
The radio station broadcasts in English, Bemba and Lamba. The Station opens everyday at 05:30 to 24:00 hours on 89.1 and 102.9FM in stereo. The radius of coverage is 120 Kilometers. Hence the radio signal covers the entire Copperbelt province and some parts of neighboring provinces.
The Station is in Kitwe, Copperbelt province. It covers all age groups.
